Reminded me lines from Dogen’s Genjo Koan: “Coming to Zen practice with the intent to illuminate things is delusion. But to allow all things to proceed and be illuminated through you? That is enlightenment.” Leaning into the magic in progress is a great way to describe it.

River, what’s your personal approach to divining what the Universe wants to manifest through you?

This is what most of my work is about -- a lot of somatic meditation and embodiment stuff, a lot of imaginal work, tuning into the direct phenomenological qualities of experience in the language of the unconscious, tuning into eros, engaging the right hemisphere practices.....

And a crucial bit here that's hard to communicate about how the "me" ego isn't the one who's really able to experience and feel what the universe wants to bring through; so the locus of awareness has to expand well beyond the ego; i have to accept that my conscious self isn't the one who's gonna be able to experience and control these things. He's more like an intern, getting messages to carry here and there, getting information sent down from people he's never met and having to collate it into reports and send it along to someone else he'll never meet... and all the somatic/imaginal/RH practice helps bring about that shift over time

...like i said, this is kinda what all of my work is about, so this is the short short answer lol. the longer answer is everything I've done and said and written over the past decade

Perfect answer, really. The point about the ego would seem to be key… I have a similar experience where “I” can’t figure it out and the best things that come through me are when “I” get out of the way. I can see how all the different practices you write about play a role in that.

Wander as far afield as you like, this is work that feels vibrant, alive, and came just as I needed it.
